It happened - Slugfest, Gallini Comeback gig

Absolutely awesome would probably describe it best. They came, they saw, they drank (they ran out of beer 3 times, godammit!!!).

MC Dean kicked off the proceedings, and then it was straight into the 1st Gallini gig since Six Bells Workmens in '88. 1st up was Ma Baker (in keeping with the Boney M theme for the day. Then came the revamped House of the Rising Sun, closely followed by Whiplash (better than Metallica these days and Southy pisses all over Lars Ulrich in the drumming stakes). Next up was the piece to resistance, the newly penned cover of Supersonic by Oasis - worth it just for the look on Pickles face. Twinky got his props on Sheriff of Cwm (written and performed on the spot). Then the planned set finished with She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain, with a constant stream of guest singers. Apologies to anyone I forget but I think it was: Johnny Strongbow, Plug, Shovel, Pickles, Meeky, Arthur, Dean. Then came the the real ad lib shit. Horsehead got up for these first live version of the Wham medley, complete with new hardcore stylings, Horse giving it the full Rollins/Damien out of Fucked Up treatment. Then to finish the set, and as a result of heckling from Puddle, Puddle himself got up so sing a Britney Spears number. Class. And then it was done. Fucking hell, 20 years wait and it flew by. Probably the longest set Gallini have ever done mind.

Big , big shout to Pacca, Bart and Southy for playing, especially Southy who had arms like an octopus by the end of it. Also I don't think Pacca stopped laughing during the entire set

Anyway that was the day up and running. Next up was the Sheriffs of Hong Kong, with Southy, Dean and Pickles giving it some.

Phobus were next, and they were excellent, good range of covers and everyone seemed to enjoy them. Managed to force a few beers down them through the night also.

I think Red Riot played next. Anyway I saw them and they were good.

This System Kills were the dog's bollocks. They just get better. It was Simon's last gig so he played it bollock naked (except for the Sutton codpiece).

I can't remember if Rough Kut played. Sorry, but I was bollocksed by now.

I do definitely remember Jizzwagon though. Fucking ace. What a band. They must have been well chuffed at having two drunken idiots like me and Plug dancing to them.

Then finally was Life, Death , Prizes. I really can't remember a thing about them. Sorry but I was catatonic by that point and had lost my pants and phone (don't ask).

For videos of the day go to Youtube and search for Slugfest.

Until next year

Gallini - Mr Travel (1987 I Think)

Finally!!!!!! Horsehead ripped this from Twin's tape. What can I say? What can I remember? Recorded in Twin's Garage in the summer of 1987. Probably has something to offend most people, but you know, we were young, impressionable and fucking stupid. Line Up was:

John "Horsehead" Hayward - Vocals, Casio, Guitar, Drums
Sutton - Guitar, Vocals, Drums
Twin (Grumpy) - Bandsaw, Casio
Greavesy - Guitar, Drums

Produced and Recorded by Twin on his dad's big fuck off Hitachi beatbox.
Sound quality isn't too bad considering.
The picture's obviously not the original cover because there wasn't one, it was just a Memorex tape inlay card. Looked for anything relating to the Mr Travel the song is about (Some wierd looking travel agent from Swansea who used to do adverts on HTV Wales whilst surrounded by little kids - you'd never get away with it today) but couldn't find a thing so this pic will have to do.

Hoping to get hold of Greavesy some time to hopefully get the rest of the tapes ripped. Then the world can enjoy (?) the wonders of Gallini, Busted John, Shithouse Peeper, Mencap Madness, Pretty Peaches, Nigel, Barking Toads and Virgin Arsehole. Horse is also going to see if Killer has still got the video of the very brief gig at Six Bells Workmens from Christmas 86 or 87, when we were chucked off after half a song.
Anyway here's the link for the download - it's a RAR file of the entire album ripped at 320, not that sound quality really matters.

Welcome to Gallini

Gallini

To anyone who was anyone in the 80's Gallini was synonymous with pretty shite T-Shirts from Burtons (or better still; copies from Blackwood Market).

To those in the know it meant possibly one of the worst bands in existence.

This blog is dedicated to the spirit of Gallini and will contain music related posts which will in all likelihood be for Punk, Grind, D-Beat, Crust and anything else noisy.

Hope to get some old school Blaenau Gwent/South Wales noise on here as well.

Cheers
